Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Dopamine Guard is a focus-protection and digital wellbeing app. It is designed to be local-first: you can use it entirely on your device without creating an account. An optional account enables sync of a limited set of non-sensitive progress data, described below. This policy explains what data the app handles in each mode.
2. Who operates the app
The app and this site are operated by Open Intent, Poland. Contact: support@openintent.app.
3. Data stored when you use the app locally (no account)
The following data is created by your use of the app and stored on your device only:
- protected intents (what you chose to protect)
- guard plans and guard modes (schedules, categories, strictness)
- focus sessions (durations, timestamps, optional notes)
- companion progress (focus energy, bond levels)
- achievements
- settings and preferences, including notification preferences
- local app protection status (e.g. whether permissions were granted)
We do not receive this data unless you sign in and sync (section 4).
4. Data processed if you sign in
If you create an optional account (email sign-in code), the following is processed on our infrastructure to provide sync:
- your email address / account identifier and auth session data
- protected intents
- guard plan summaries
- focus session summaries (durations, timestamps, optional notes)
- companion progress
- achievement state
- settings/preferences suitable for cross-device use
Sync is protected by per-user access rules: your data rows are readable and writable only by your authenticated account.
5. Data that stays on your device
The following is designed to never leave your device and is not uploaded to our servers, included in analytics, or written to logs:
- raw names of apps you select for protection
- selected app identifiers (bundle IDs)
- Screen Time / FamilyControls tokens and native app-selection tokens
- per-app usage details
- device-specific blocking data
6. Payments
Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, with subscription management by RevenueCat. The app never stores your full payment card details. We may process your entitlement/subscription status (e.g. whether Pro is active) to unlock paid features.
7. Notifications
Local reminders are optional and off by default. You can disable them in the app or revoke the notification permission in your device settings at any time. The app does not send marketing push notifications.
8. Analytics
The current version of the app does not use third-party behavioral analytics or advertising SDKs. If analytics are introduced in a future version, they will be category-level product events without sensitive app-selection data, and this policy will be updated before they are enabled.
9. Legal bases (GDPR and similar laws)
- Contract / service delivery — providing the app, accounts, and sync you request;
- Consent — optional features such as notifications and account sync;
- Legitimate interest — app security, abuse prevention, and responding to support requests;
- Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required by law.
10. Data retention
- Local data stays on your device until you delete it (or the app).
- Account data is retained until your deletion request is completed (section 11).
- Support correspondence is retained as long as needed to help you.
11. Deletion and export
- Local data can be deleted inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete local data) and exported from the same screen.
- Account data deletion or export can be requested in-app or by emailing support@openintent.app from your account email.

12. International transfers
Our cloud providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses offered by our providers).
13. Children
Dopamine Guard is not intended for children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
14. Security
- Data in transit is encrypted (TLS).
- Auth sessions are stored using platform secure storage where supported.
- Screen Time / app-selection tokens are never synced to the cloud.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision; material changes will be reflected there before they apply.
